High Country Walk

Item posted: Monday 2nd February , 2009

I believe that in time The Beacons Way will come to be recognised as one of the top High Country Walks in these Islands. It is simply brilliant in so many ways. It is relatively accessible to many major centres of population inspite of which you can pretty much expect to be on your own, or with your chosen companioins, for much of the time. It tracks over most of the high points of the Brecon Beacons National Park including, of course, Pen y Fan. It can conveniently be divided into 7, 8 or 9 sections when using our single base at Footsteps. There is ample opportunity to practise your navigation skills particularly on the Forest Fawr and Black Mountain sections of the walk when the term 'trackless waste' takes on all to real a meaning. We do, of course, offer the services of our local guide but the feeling of isolation is still very real and the sense of satisfaction at the end of the day, very rewarding. I can't get enough of it so keep on coming.

This year we are planning expeditions during weeks commencing 29th March (as Summer Time starts), 28th June and 9 August any of which can run on a 7, 8 or 9 day schedule it's up to you to choose.

Don't hesitate to give us a call to discuss the details
