Springing into Spring

Today I walked 10 miles around our locality and was rewarded with the first tentative signs of Spring. The sky was clear blue and the sun warm whilst there was still a distinct nip in the air. A few primroses were just beginning to show through together with daffodils in bud but still hesitating to burst into full bloom. The remaining snowdrops were very lovely and there were still the last vestiges of snow on the mountains in the background.
Pairs of Chaffinches were taking a lively interest in one another and there were increasing numbers of lambs in many of the fields. I felt very priveleged to be out on such a day.


Is winter over now?

We thought we would visit our daughter in Scotland for a few days before the walking season really got under way. This would be a good way to pass a few days and of course we have greatly enjoyed the company and hospitality in spite of the:
