The Beacons Way.
Some of you will have noticed a piece in August's Country Walking entitled 'The Beacons Beckon' and of course they always have for us being, so to speak, on our doorstep.

The piece concerned was included as an introduction to the BEACONS WAY, a newly devised route of almost 100 miles across the whole breadth of the Brecon Beacons National Park. With this in mind we have determined to add a specific Beacons' Way package to our repertoire for 2006 and to offer you our unique Marches walkS service to complete the trail. This means that you can undertake the whole route from our single base thus not having to limit the equipment that you bring but can include everything even if you think there may be little change of needing it. It also means that all your accommodation problems are sorted with a single phone call; there is no need to pack and unpack each day; you have only one unfamiliar bed to get used to; that path sections can be varied day by day to take account of weather conditions, fatigue, etc.

We have adjusted the sections, starting at the Holy Mountain and finishing at Bethlehem, so that the whole can be achieved in seven days of walking or, of course, you could choose to undertake all but one or two of the sections in order to fit your holiday into a single week. These and other options are achieveable because of the flexibility inherent in the single base approach.

Richard is planning to cover the whole route in this way during September and will be ready to start guiding you from February next year although you could choose to disappoint him and do the walk alone, if you could be that heartless! We would still give the the same wonderful Marches walkS experience in all other respects.
