Our walks are designed to maximise interest and variety of scenery by being linear in nature.

Janet will take us to our chosen drop off point and pick us up from our designated finish point whenever we get there.

We construct itineraries to suit the choices of our guests and thus might, one week cover many miles over the highest hills and in another meander along valleys taking a particular interest in the flora and fauna of the season. The main point is that you can choose. We do not have set itineraries or strengths of walk for particular dates to suit ourselves but leave that freedom for at least the first party to book for any particular week.

This does not, however, mean that you will have to plan individual routes but rather that you can specify the level activity and any particular categories of interest that you have such as Castles, Hills, Rivers, etc. and Richard, being the walker and usual guide, will select walks from the many routes already explored by us that meet any such parameters that you give.

Our walks range over the Southern Marches, in the old counties of Herefordshire, Monmouthshire, Breconshire, Radnorshire, sometimes touching Shropshire and Carmarthenshire and in doing so take in some of the most breathtaking scenery to be found anywhere.

Contrary to popular belief the Brecon Beacons National Park is not an army training ground onto which the public are reluctantly allowed. It is in fact an outstandingly beautiful and under-valued tract of countryside, equally lovely whether the valleys are viewed from the hills or the hills from the valleys.

Or perhaps as an alternative to a weeks general walking in our delightfully scenic hinterland, you may want to consider a trek along any one of the following routes at your own pace:.

Three Castles Walk (Hills and History in Monmouthshire)
The Mortimer Trail (32 miles of History from 600BC to Ludlow)
The Monnow Valley Walk (40 miles Monmouth to Hay - new for 2004 )
Offa’s Dyke Path (Southern section Chepstow to Brompton 95 miles)
The Wye Valley Walk (extended in 2002 but 112 miles to Rhayader)
The Black & White Trail (Lovely villages in Herefordshire)

ODP is a designated National Trail and most people would want to take more than a week to cover it, or the Wye Valley Walk, to do them full justice and so you might undertake them in sections in different years for instance. In any case, we would be happy to put together and quote you for a package of any composition or duration you choose.
